Flooding is not a recent phenomenon, it is the UKs biggest natural hazard: 1 in 6 homes and approximately 185,000 commercial properties are at risk of flooding in the UK. Understanding your flood risk and what can be done to mitigate flood risk is therefore key for anyone looking to develop.
During this session we will look at why food risk matters and its ties to the law, particularly in planning. As well as this, we will highlight the importance of undertaking a flood risk assessment (FRA) prior to purchasing land and designing developments in flood risk areas, what should be included in an FRA, what the outcomes could be and the next steps for your development.
